If you ask in India, “What’s the most classic family game?” almost everyone will answer: “Ludo!”
We will break down the Ludo game rules and how to win in the simplest way possible. And guess what? You can play real-money Ludo for just ₹1 — let’s dive in!
What is Ludo? Where does it come from?
Ludo is a popular board game in India — both in real life and online. It’s a true national game, loved by all ages, evolving from physical boards to digital screens!
But Ludo isn’t some modern invention — its origins can be traced back to ancient India, and even the emperors were hooked on it! 😍

The original version of Ludo was called Pachisi, and it originated in India around the 6th century CE.
This game was played by four players, and instead of dice, cowrie shells were used to determine the number of moves.
- Pachisi is often referred to as the “National Game of India.”
- It was even played in the royal courts of Akbar the Great, who had a giant board built into the floor for the royal family to play on!
During British colonial rule, the British brought the game back to Europe, simplified and modernized it — and that’s how Ludo, as we know it today, was born.

1 minutes guide – how to play Ludo!
- Each online Ludo game can have up to 4 players.
- Players can choose from four token colors: 🟢 Green / 🔵 Blue / 🔴 Red / 🟡 Yellow.
- At the start of the game, one player is randomly selected to go first.
- Each player has 4 tokens of their chosen color. The first player to move all 4 tokens to the finish zone wins the game.
- The game uses 1 dice to determine the number of steps to move.
- You must roll a 6 to move a token out from the “home” area.
- Once a token is out of home, it is placed at the starting point (the square with a ⭐ star).
- After successfully bringing a token out, you get an extra roll and can move again.
- Each token must make a full round around the board, then enter the center triangle area, which is the finish zone.
- The player who gets all 4 tokens to the finish zone first is the winner!

Simply put, the basic rule of online Ludo is this:
- Each player has 4 tokens of the same color. You roll the dice to decide how many steps to move.
- The first player to move all 4 tokens into the triangle-shaped finish zone wins!
- If your token lands on a safe zone (the square marked with a ⭐ star), it won’t get kicked back home — even if another player lands there.
- Two tokens of different colors can share the same safe spot!

Can you block your opponent in Ludo?
Yes — there’s one specific situation where you can block opponents.
When two or more of your own tokens (same color) land on the same square, they form a temporary “invincible fortress.”
Opponents cannot land on or pass through this square — their movement gets completely blocked!
In this case, your opponent must either move a different token, or if no legal moves are available, they have to skip their turn.
Place two of your tokens on the same square to block opponents — that spot becomes off-limits, making it a strong defensive move.

Ludo Online FAQs
Why do you need to roll a 6 to move your token out in Ludo?
The rule of needing a 6 to start originates from Pachisi, an ancient Indian game dating back to the 6th century. Rolling a 6 symbolizes the “starting threshold”—a metaphorical way of overcoming an obstacle to begin a journey.
When can you roll the dice again in Ludo?
You earn an extra roll in three specific scenarios:
- Rolling a 6: Whether bringing a token out or moving forward.
- Capturing an Opponent: Successfully sending an opponent’s token back home.
- Reaching Finish: Entering the final triangle path or the center zone.
What happens if you roll three 6s in a row?
If you roll three consecutive 6s, your entire turn is invalidated. You cannot move any tokens, and the turn passes immediately to the next player. This rule ensures fair play and prevents runaway advantages.
Where are the safe zones in Ludo?
Safe zones are squares where your tokens cannot be captured. These include:
- Starting Squares: The first square your token enters after leaving home.
- Star Squares: All star-marked squares along the main path.
- Home Stretch: The colored triangle path exclusive to each player.
Can you really withdraw money from Vegas11?
Yes, withdrawals are possible for verified users. To ensure a successful transaction:
- Complete KYC verification for security.
- Link a valid UPI, Paytm, or bank account.
