Pakistan’s Strong Form

Pakistan defeated India in the 2022 Asia Cup semi-final and lost narrowly by 6 runs in the 2024 World Cup, showing they are just as strong as India.

Over the last two years, Pakistan has kept around a 70 percent winning rate in T20 internationals. Key players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi are in good form, with Babar scoring big in the 2024 World Cup.

Pakistan has also reached at least the semi-finals in four of the last five Asia Cups, so it is almost certain they will finish in the top four this time.

Sri Lanka Could Lead Group B

Sri Lanka has won the Asia Cup six times, and they have reached the final at least three times in the past decade and won the title in 2022.

Even though their 2024 World Cup performance was not consistent, key players like Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka, and Dinesh Chandimal have been performing steadily, with Rajapaksa scoring well in recent T20 matches. If these main players play well, Sri Lanka can top Group B.

Afghanistan Could Be the Dark Horse

Afghanistan shocked the world in the 2024 T20 World Cup by defeating Australia and Bangladesh to reach the semi-finals for the first time. Over the past two years, they have maintained around a 55 to 60 percent winning rate in T20 internationals.

Key players like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have been performing steadily, with Rashid Khan making crucial breakthroughs against Bangladesh, supported by Fazalhaq Farooqi’s impressive fast bowling.

Afghanistan has also won two of its last three T20 internationals against Bangladesh, and with the team’s rapid improvement, they have a strong chance to qualify for the Super Four in Group B of this Asia Cup.
