Asia Cup 2025 will have the highest number of teams in the tournament’s history. Since it began in 1984, the Asia Cup had only 3 to 4 teams until 2000.
In 2025, the Asia Cup will include 8 teams for the first time. These will be 5 full member nations and 3 qualifiers from Hong Kong, Oman, and the UAE. The teams will be split into Group A and Group B and they will play a total of 19 matches.

India has participated in 15 Asia Cup tournaments, winning a total of 8 titles. Three of those victories in 1984, 1995 and 2018 came in the UAE, making it India’s most successful Asia Cup venue.

Afghanistan shocked the world in the 2024 T20 World Cup by defeating Australia and Bangladesh to reach the semi-finals for the first time. Over the past two years, they have maintained around a 55 to 60 percent win rate in T20 internationals.
